Liguria
Traditional Ligurian Products | Page 2
Liguria is one of the smallest regions in Italy after Valle d'Aosta and Molise, but it is one of the most populated and abundant with traditional products. The region is named after the ancient people of Liguri, who lived in this area when it was bigger than it is today. Liguria is surrounded by the Ligurian Alps, the Ligurian Appennines and the Ligurian Sea. From the capital of the region Genova two coastlines twist and turn on the east and the west of the city, which are the Riviera di Ponente and Riviera di Levante. The unmistakable taste of this region is undoubtately the Pesto alla genovese, extremely famous all over the world and is made with the prestigious Basilico di Pra. Ligurian cheeses are excellent too, such as the stunning San Stè from the Val d'Aveto produced with different ageing times.
