Poggio Mandorlo il Guardiano is the base wine of the Poggio Mandorlo winery, born from the desire to combine the character of Sangiovese with the Merlot roundness by creating a wine far away from oak and with a direct line from the vineyard to the bottle. Poggio Mandorlo Guardiano is born on the vineyards in Maremma that have marbled and limestone soils that make this area together with the particularly warm climatic conditions perfect for the production of red wines of personality. Sangiovese and Merlot are harvested separately and vinified with maceration in thermocontrolled stainless steel teats, fermentation and maceration last for about 18 days with daily pump over and delastage. Subsequently Poggio Mandorlo il Guardiano is separated from the skins and aged in stainless steel tanks till blending and bottling.
