The Pan Tranvai is a traditional bread from the Brianza area, in Lombardy, near to the Como Lake. The Pan Tranvai is a traditional bread with sultana so named since the Second World War because it is was exclusively sold in the tram stations which linked Monza to Milan. Known as the 'Panettoni of the poor people', the Pan Tranvai was very often the only food that could give sugar and carbohydrates to the workers during the day. Today the Pan Tranvai has become a pastry that is consumed all year long. The Pan Tranvai is made with bread and sultana; the old receipe was 1 kg of flour and 3 kg of sultana. Today Pan Tranvai is made by Superpan following the old recipe and using only natural ingredients.
