Brunello di Montalcino Riserva La Poderina Poggio Abate" is a 100% Sangiovese wine produced in La Poderina winery, one of the estates of Tenute del Cerro group.. The vineyards of this estate are located in the Castelnuovo dell'Abate area in the south of Montalcino. This area is well-known for delivering incredibly elegant wines. The Sangiovese grapes are hand-harvested and then brought to the winery for the de-stemming and fermentation. This process takes place in temperature controlled steel tanks and lasts around 15-18 days at a temperature of 28°C. Afterwards Brunello di Montalcino Riserva La Poderina "Poggio Abate" is separated from the skins and its 40% is put to age in French oak barriques and the remaining 60% in big Slavonia oak barrels for 12 months. During the following 12 months the wine ages only in big barrels, at the end of this period of time the wine is blended and bottled. Before being released on the market, Brunello di Montalcino Riserva La Poderina "Poggio Abate" rest in the bottle for 18 months.
