Brunello di Montalcino Val di Suga Vigneto Spuntali is a Brunello's cru of the Vigneto Spuntali's vineyard owned by Tenimenti Angelini, who vinifies the Sangiovese grosso on its own. This cru is located at 300 m asl and faces south-west on the south side of Montalcino. It faces also the coast, which influences the microclimate of the area and for this reason the grapes here are particularly thick and concentrated delivering wines with recognisable features. The Sangiovese Grosso is hand-harvested in the middle of September and brought to the winery for the de-stemming and the alcoholic fermentation which lasts about 20 days at a temperature of 28°C, during which the polyphenols and aromas in the skins and seeds are transferred into the wine. Afterwards the Brunello is separated from the skins and left to age in barriques for 24 months, after which blending and bottling take place. Bottle ageing lasts for other 24 months before releasing. Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Spuntali is produced only in great years, usually 15,000 bottles a year.
